Sally Minns – Artist
Sally’s life experiences are fundamental to her painting. Gathering knowledge, together with subject material and creative visions, inform her constantly evolving portfolio.
“I have always lived my life through change; observing the world around me, experiencing new things, retraining, and moving forward. All of which are driven by my permanent curiosity. What would it be like to be…? What would it be like to do…? Reinventing myself, learning and growing”
As a painter, Sally is inspired by colour, pattern and shape. Her paintings start from these points of interest often combining observational painting and images from experience and memories.
Based in her London studio, Sally divides her time between investigating new subjects and painting commissions. She works mainly in oils, painting from life and reference material, including photographs, textile designs and her imagination.
Focusing on the composition of an image and the role of the figure within a visualised space, Sally reacts to her painting as it develops, allowing her process to be spontaneous and the texture of the paint to describe the subject.
